Submissions Outline

All submissions to ELSA must be freely distributable. No proprietary submissions are knowingly archived on this server by the Econometrics Laboratory.

Archival entries in ELSA have five components:

  1. an abstract,

  2. instructions for installation,

  3. a test problem,

  4. program listings or executables, and

  5. technical notes.

The abstract is a descriptive summary suitable for key word searches and for browsing. The instructions for installation are written so that a knowledgeable graduate student or faculty user is able to get the software up and running with a minimum of effort. The test problem provides a check on the installation and illustrates how the software works. In addition to annotated source code, authors often provide technical notes to facilitate an understanding of their algorithms.

The entire submission should be contained within a single compressed file: See Compressed Files . The files should follow commonly accepted naming conventions: See Naming Conventions .
