ELSA submissions are acceptable in any of the following compression formats:
-
Unix tar files. We will assume that any file sent to ELSA with a
".tar" extension was created using the command "tar cvf [file.tar] [directory]"
and will use the command "tar tvf [file.tar]" to view
the contents of a tarfile and "tar xvf [file.tar]" to extract the
archive.
-
Unix compressed or packed files. Any file received by ELSA with a
".Z" extension should be compressed with the Unix "compress" command.
Any file with the ".z" extension should be compressed with the
Unix "pack" command. And any file with a ".gz" extension should be
compressed with the Unix GNU "gzip" command.
-
Unix and PC zip files. Files sent to ELSA with the ".zip" extension should
be zipped using the PC PKZIP command (most current version or next
to most current version) or the Unix "zip" command.
