Registration for Fall 2008

Academic Calendar

2nd year students must
register for 1 unit of ECON 298.
Please complete the Econ 299
form to receive course entry codes.

General Instructions

Seeing an advisor is required for Fall 2008 registration. Faculty will be posting sign-up sheets outside their offices on or around April 3rd, for times they are available to meet. As registration for most graduate students starts April 20th, faculty have been asked to advise all students by April 19th. Faculty advisors have been provided with "Graduate Student Progress Forms" for all students they are to advise. Before seeing your advisor, please give some thought to questions you want addressed and also have some sense of courses you want to take next semester so that the limited time available is used as efficiently as possible.

Please review the form with your advisor and note any changes in planned fields, address and phone number. Also be sure that course grades and field exams have been recorded accurately and that requirements that have been fulfilled have been checked off. Discuss questions you have regarding progress in the program with your advisor and come up with a schedule of classes for the Fall 2008 which will ensure continued progress. Also ask your advisor to suggest faculty contacts you should develop at this time. Please be sure that you list your proposed schedule for Fall 2008 and that your advisor signs the form.

Students that have passed orals and have not yet reached their fifth year in the program are not required to see the advisor assigned to their year, but rather, must submit the Dissertation Writing Check Up Form signed by their thesis advisor to the Economics Graduate Office in order to receive their advisor code for Fall.

Students in their fifth year and beyond who have passed orals must see the appointed advisor for 5th year and beyond students and submit the Dissertation Writing Check Up Form signed by their thesis advisor to receive an advisor code for Fall.
